My friend LK was sharing with me her recent adventure planting a garden at Residents of St George’s with some volunteers from her WSQ gardening class.
The Residents requested for a butterfly shaped gardening plot and named it Garden of Hope.
What a pretty garden. Gardening to heal body and soul
In “Seeds of hope, wisdom and wonder from the world of plants” by Jane Goodall, she wrote that yherapists have found that the most severely traumatised victims can benefit from spending time in nature. She shared of a program at the Oak Creek Youth Correctional Facility in Albany, Oregon where Drew Reynolds and seven of the teenage girls created a healing garden, inspired by Michelle Obama’s organic kitchen garden and her mission to improve nutrition and fight obesity.
End fights and conflicts, get your hands dirty and plant a garden.
